Abstract

„Biometric template protection (BTP) is inevitable for secure and compliant biometric systems. This work implements a privacy-preserving multi-modal biometric verification protocol using secure multi-party computation (MPC) via multiparty homomorphic encryption (MHE). The proposed BTP system evaluates different methods for multi-biometric fusion of DNN-extracted features and distributes additive shares of biometric templates across independent servers for distributed evaluation. This ensures that no single party learns information about stored templates. An extension of the protocol implements countermeasures against adversarial clients. HE primitives based on modern lattice cryptography ensure post-quantum security. The system exhibits sublinear time required with the number of computation parties and reduced bandwidth compared to traditional MPC concepts, thereby improving upon prior work.“
