Abstract:
This study examines the availability of biometric identification documents on the internet. With the increasing digitization of authentication processes, millions of copies of identification documents and selfies featuring such documents are uploaded every day. Much of this highly sensitive biometric data is stored or shared insecurely. The central research question was: How readily available are such documents, and can automated methods be developed to detect this availability?
