Project sponsor: Bundesamt für Sicherheit in der Informationstechnik

Project partner: Hochschule Darmstadt (project coordinator), Fraunhofer IGD, RWTH, Universität München, Secunet

Time frame: October 2009 – March 2010

Description: The security of biometric reference data is one of the most important propeties of a biometric system. In case of stolen reference data these information might be used by the attacker to reconstruct an replicate version (aretefacts of a biometric characteristics) such as a rubber finger which is suitable for successful authentication transaction. That is why the projects objective is to develop biometric template protection techniques. The aim of the project is it to develop safe methods storaging biometric and pseudonymous identifiers in order to make it substantially difficult or impossible to reconstruct the finger print by using the identifier. BioKeys is a cooperative project which is sponsored by the Bundesamt für Sicherheit in der Informationstechnik (BSI). Project management is carried out by the Hochschule Darmstadt (HDA). Partner in the project are the Fraunhofer Institut für Graphische Datenverarbeitung (IGD), the Rheinisch- Westfälische Technsiche Hochschule Aachen (RWTH), the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München (LMU) and secunet.
